Only to discover later that the styles, the look or colours are not your true authentic style.
STEP 1
Ask yourself a few questions before you begin your journey.
- What is my current weight? Is my weight consistent, or fluctuating?
- Do I have clothes in my wardrobe that are different versions of me according to my weight and size?
- What’s my lifestyle requirements regarding my wardrobe style?
- Has my lifestyle changed over the past 6months to one year?
- Break down your lifestyle to different areas of your life, for example:
- outdoor activities 20%;
- office/corporate wear 60%;
- travel 5%;
- formal evening events 5%;
- public speaking 10%
STEP 2
Next, declutter your wardrobe.
Remove what you haven’t worn in the past 6 to 1 year give away or swop with a friend.
Statistics suggest we only wear 20% of the clothing, which leaves 80% of clothing taking up precious space. Your wardrobe should be full of clothes you love and wear.
Be honest with yourself, let go of clothes, shoes, jeans, accessories and those expensive pieces that you haven’t worn in ages, it is now that counts, your new style.
STEP 3
Try, on different styles, designs, cuts, and colours in clothing retail stores, take photographs for reference, look at which styles are stunning on you, make a list to purchase future similar style and/or commercial patterns to sew & design for your wardrobe.

Invest in finding out what you like and dislike, here are some tips:
- spend some time or money on having your seasonal palette done,
- use a personal shopper for the day or ask a girlfriend to join you to get her honest opinion about the styles your try on – take photos, which you can use to look for commercial sewing patterns to sew you own garments in the colours that suit you
- experiment with your style, have fun, try on different combinations of styles and colours – like smart tailored jacket with t-shirt and jeans.
